The sensor contains a source 1 and a radiation receiver 2, the optical axes of which are parallel and coincide with the axes of the optical fibers 3 and 4, respectively. The working surfaces of the optical fibers are placed between adjacent plates 5 (one of the plates is shown in Fig. 1) of the confuser channel 6 of the weaving machine (not shown), made in the form of light reflecting prisms located on opposite sides of the direction of movement of the weft yarn f in the confuser channel 6 at an angle of 45 to the optical axis of the optical fibers Zi4.
The source 1, the radiation receiver 2 and the light guides 3 and 4 are located in the housing 7, which is connected with the end wall of the confuser 8 of the loom. Nos. 9–11 denote a batan, the main threads forming the throat and fabric, respectively.
The sensor works as follows.
During the operation of the weaving machine, the weft yarn f is periodically thrown over the throat formed by the main yarns 10. During the movement of the weft yarn in the throat, its integrity (or presence) is controlled as follows. If the filament f is present in the throat, then the light flux L, passing through the light guide 3, is partially attenuated due to the presence of the filament f in the control zone. This attenuated flow enters the input of the light guide L and is registered by the receiver 2. If the thread. f is absent in the throat during the monitoring period.
l, there is no attenuation of the luminous flux L coming from the source 1. The fixing by receiver 2 of an unabated flow indicates either a breakage or the absence of a weft thread in the throat. The output of receiver 2 is used to stop the machine.

2. The sensor according to claim 1, distinguished by the condition that the housing is connected to the front wall of the confuser of the weaving machine, and the input and output parts of the respective optical fibers are rigidly fixed in the housing.
